Bezdzezh Phartushok Museum of Folks Arts

Services for visitors:

Excursion services, demonstration of traditional folk crafts (spinning and weaving), a ride on a brisket, dressing up in folk clothes, musical accompaniment of excursions (by a folk or folk group), marriage registration, accommodation in a village house (hotel room), tasting of traditional Bezdzezh cuisine (adults, children). History of the museum:

The Bezdzezh Phartushok Museum of Folks Arts was opened on January 17, 1999 in the village of Bezdezh, Drogichin district. Originally it was planned that the museum would be located in Drogichin. But on June 16, 1997, the Drogichin District Executive Committee made a new decision to open a museum in the village of Bezdezh, in the building of the former school because the main part of the exhibits was collected in the village of Bezdzezh and the surrounding villages.

In 2009 the museum was awarded the special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus to workers of culture and arts for creation of a unique collection of authentic patterns of folk art and for the significant contribution to preservation and popularization of local crafts, ceremonies and dialects.

In September 2012, at the Bezdzezh Phartushok Museum of Folks Arts opened the rustic farmstead "Kala Plesa" — an open-air exhibition. This exposition is created to allow the visitor to plunge into the peasant life of the village. Bezdzezh and learn as much as possible about the traditional lifestyle, everyday life and traditions of the Bezdezh peasant.

Museum exposition:

The museum exposition is housed in seven spacious halls (the author of the project is local historian Arkady Denisevich). It counts about 300 sambok aprons, none of which is the same as the previous one. The exhibition presents items of peasant life, the process of processing linen, the interior of a peasant hut, sambotka handkerchiefs, folk clothing patterns, modern embroidery and weaving. One of the rooms is fully occupied by the exhibition of aprons. To date, the total area of the museum is 312 m2.

Museum funds are collections of household items and weaving, clothing and arts and crafts.

The main areas of research:

Studying the history of the village of Bezdzezh, studying embroidered patterns on Bezdzezh aprons, collecting ceremonial songs, etc.
